Marmalade is just another kind of jelly or jam. There are little technical things that differentiate a fruit preserve from being a jelly, jam, marmalade, chutney, confit, etc.

Marmalades are made from the fruit and peal of mostly citrus fruits since the peals are edible and substantial enough to give you something to chew. They're made by boiling the peals with the juice from the fruit and sugar. Fruit preserves usually take a good bit of time to make correctly, but can be really good.

Here's a marmalade recipe so you can see what goes into them:
