This topic occurred to me while I was out today. Was waiting for the bus when I saw this person wearing a shirt with that "S" logo that SCANDAL has boarding another bus, so she must be a SCANDAL fan as well. So I started to think if I would try to talk to her as a fellow fan if I was on the same bus, and how I would talk to her.

Personally I don't think I would do anything, although I wish I would. I think if I introduced myself as a SCANDAL fan as well she would give me a weird face, people here don't generally talk to random strangers like westerners do. Plus I don't talk well so I may come across to other people as a creep if I suddenly approached them to chat.

How about you guys?

In this situation... Hum I am too shy I think I wouldn't say anything but simply be happy in my head because I met another fan.

The best way in that situation would probably to ask a question, something like : "Oh Hello, your shirt is cool is that the SCANDAL band logo?!"

That person would say yes and then you could say you are a fan too a continue the conversation asking what is her favorite song or member ^^

What I did was ask if they were a SH member, like I did when I met this girl at a convention (which I made a topic about and am still waiting for her to register some day lol). It's a good non awkward ice breaker and you can always tell them to join if they haven't.

My conversation starter would probably be like this...

"Hey excuse me... is that... Scandal?"

If they say yes... go on with saying... whose your favourite member, song, album, when you first started liking them etc.

If they say no... oops, that logo reminded me of a band that I like.

Interesting topic, I really haven't thought of it before. I would actually just be happy to see another Scandal fan in the area that I live in.

But I don't know, this is all in theory and I will probably not say anything as well lol.

I remember a similar one.

I was inside a classroom and a classmate had a SCANDAL baller -- I saw it ('coz nothing can escape my eyes when it comes to my favorite band) and I approached a seat next to her since our teacher isn't there at the moment. I turned on my music player (with SCANDAL music playing) and removed the headset on purpose. So the whole class heard the music. She looked at me at then asked me, "Is that -Shoujo S- by SCANDAL?" And then our conversation continued after class and we became close friends. Happy

In my wild youth a long time ago I had a Triumph motorbike and you would always flash your headlight and wave to another Triumph bike rider so I would never ignore another Scandal fan.
It is quite easy just to say "Oh I like them too" !
Especially if they are a pretty young girl  Happy

Nicely done there!

But it isn't exactly the same situation, it was someone you knew in classroom. But I guess your strategy could work in the bus too  Nice one

well I forgot to mention that it was the first day of class when I was in college.
And oh, that would totally work on a bus.  .clap.

Oh then it's kind of the same situation, good strategy  .clap.

I guess the difference is that in a bus you may never see the person again, if it's a classmate you will see him/er everyday so it's even better to make a friend.

haha thats pretty awesome. must have been nice to get to know someone like this. and especially a classmate who's going to be attending lessons with you.
but on a bus if there are plenty of empty pairs of seats elsewhere and you just sit next to her its actually kind of awkward for her, since I think most people wont sit with strangers unless they have no choice (I know I wont). I've had people previously sitting next to me when the bus was almost empty, and I was like "bro, this bus is empty and you choose this seat?" but this is off topic lol.

but actually this question doesn't only apply to buses. Like, if you randomly walk on the streets and spot someone who knows SCANDAL would you approach him/her and how?

haha totally got to agree with that last sentence. the presence of pretty young girls just make everything seem much easier to do huh haha

This happened to me before, with another band. It never was a good experience to engage conversation, maybe because I don't like talking with most people. Althoug if I MUST to talk to somebody who is a Scandal fan, that definitely will be the trigger.

Besides that situation, if I find a Scandal fan here in my city, it would be almsot a miracle!

I recently went to see The Tubes perform in concert and I was wearing a UFO shirt.

A guy spotted me in the crowd and was so overjoyed to tell me how much he loves UFO and it's his favorite band, and that he couldn't believe there was another fan at this particular concert since the music was so different from what we were about to hear that night.  Until The Tubes came on stage we debated what was the best album, and the best Schenker solo.

If I were to randomly come across someone wearing a Scandal shirt, I'd react the same way as this guy did to me.  I'd finally have someone to geek out to about this awesome band.

Since I was the last one to comment in this post seven months ago, I wasn't sure to edit my last post or post anew.  Apologies in advance if this is considered a double-post.  Anyway...

I finally met a Scandal fan last night and I was both excited and surprised.  Granted it may be cheating a bit for randomness since I was at my beginner Japanese class (however I am the only student).  As I sat in the hall waiting for the advance class to end so my session could start, I heard the instructor tell someone she had a student in the next class that was also a Scandal fan.  My ears perked up.  What is funny to me after reading my last post about seeing someone in a Scandal T-shirt: I was wearing a Scandal T-shirt last night, and he identified me!  I geeked out a bit and told him about seeing them twice live a couple years ago, the new Best-of CD, the Prefecture Tour and Scandal Heaven.  Hopefully he comes in and joins the forum.

Slightly off topic, but coincidentally timely and funny (to me) based off my last post about wearing a UFO T-shirt at a different concert-- I'm seeing UFO tonight.  Maybe I should wear a Scandal T-shirt to this concert to meet another fan?  These two bands seem to be cosmically connected for me.

Despite of my usual placid demeanor (sometimes mistaken as snobbish by other people), I have no problems with starting a conversation as polite as possible to complete strangers. Specially, if we have something in common. I've been practicing that skill since college days and helped me to overcome my shyness and passive behavior.

If I happen to run into someone wearing Scandal merc than we would prolly yell at eachother in surprise since there are very few fans in the Netherlands.

I would certainly wave and point and start a small talk Happy

i would probably approach him/her "sorry to bother you, is that a SCANDAL shirt/armband/anything?"
if it's a fail, i can always laugh and be gone.

but in reality, sometimes i'm really awkward with people and become hesitant. (i need to have a strong purpose to be really friendly like normal people would, idk why). so, i can always take a picture of him/her in secret, and post it here and like "WHICH ONE OF YOU IS DIS PERSON??" and we'd meet online, perhaps meet up in the real world again lol Happy

thinking about SCANDAL may cause extreme blushing, increasing heart beat rate, crazy actions, exhausted from jumping like a kid, unstoppable weird laughs, sudden excitement, and freaky things that you'll wish you had never done that

(in theory)
1) approach person
2) compliment the shirt/accessory, and ask if they're a fan
3) if yes, become best friends

(in reality)
1) stare at person
2) person notices me staring
3) awkward silence

When I was in Osaka last October, I met a cool skater kid relaxing at a Mini Stop branch in Tengachaya. He was wearing a black current logo shirt. However, our conversation was way too brief because of my inability to speak in Japanese.
