MAMI "STRATOMASTER" Guitar problems/issues

Hey, I just recently bought Mami's guitar and it had to be shipped from Korea to New Zealand.
But I was being irritated by that plastic that was on the pick guard.
So I decided to rip off the plastic, which meant I had to loosen the strings to get every bit off it.

When I loosened the strings, it became disastrous as the bridge just basically went out of place.
I didn't know which position the bridge had to be or which height it had to be.
So I watched some videos and adjusted it, but the problem is, it doesn't feel right.
There is buzzing still, the high E and B string touches the frets when I am playing around the 12th fret.
Additionally, when I try to play the high E string, it tends to 'fall off' the fret board, is it just me playing badly or is that another issue?

I don't want to change the bridge, as I want to keep the guitar as "Mami's guitar"
Also I am a beginner to guitars, so please help!

Thanks!

First I would say educate yourself on the pieces you guitar is made from. What pickups you have, style of bridge and all that goodness. At the same time learn about action, fret buzz, truss rod and intonation. After that its all you my brother. rock on \m/

That's actually a standard Jazzmaster feature. It's a floating bridge.

I didn't know which position the bridge had to be or which height it had to be.

There is buzzing still, the high E and B string touches the frets when I am playing around the 12th fret.

Then it's not adjusted properly.

Your best bet is to take it to a tech and get a proper setup. This is good advice for any guitar, really, but Jazzmasters are more finicky than most. If you don't have a guitar tech near you, you can learn how to do a setup yourself: http://www.webrocker.de/jaguar/2007/05/12/setup-for-jaguar-and-jazzmaster/

String and pickup heights are listed there (they should be basically the same even for the Stratomaster), but don't just skip ahead - you won't get anywhere unless you check/set everything.

Additionally, when I try to play the high E string, it tends to 'fall off' the fret board, is it just me playing badly or is that another issue?

Could be either, to be honest. Look at your neck visually - is the high E much closer to the edge of the neck at the base of it than the low E is? If so, then you need to loosen the bolts on the back of the neck and straighten it (push the head end towards the low E side). But if not, then it's just your playing. Some guitars have relatively fat fretboards; the Jazzmaster has a thin one.

I don't want to change the bridge, as I want to keep the guitar as "Mami's guitar"

The good news/bad news is that Mami doesn't have this bridge on her guitar. She has an Adjust-O-Matic.

EDIT: NVM I see it now
Hmm I've been following many guides and the bridge still buzzes or makes a little bit of annoying noises.

It's actually pretty common in Jazzmaster bridges to have a little buzz. But did you set it up properly? It should be centered in the bridge thimbles and high enough that your strings clear the pickups with room to spare. There also needs to be about a 15 degree break angle over the bridge (the angle of the strings on one side of the bridge vs. the other).

Excessive buzz in Jazzmaster bridges is *usually* (not always) the result of a bad setup. Like I said, Jazzmasters are really finicky guitars - it's one reason why they were not popular for a long time, and it's a good bet this is why Mami doesn't use that bridge in her guitar. Set up as intended, the buzz usually goes away because the strings lock everything in place.

If you know you've set things up right and it's still buzzing, the next trick a lot of Jazzmaster players do is buy a tube of Loctite Blue (not Red!) at your local hardware store, and put a tiny drop of it on each of the grub screws. (These are the tiny screws on each saddle; two in each saddle.) You have to unscrew them to do this - work on one at a time, noting the position before unscrewing, then put a drop on the threads and rescrew it. Do this for all the screws. On my Japanese Jazzmaster, this 100% cured the remaining buzz I had after doing a setup.

Or you could just have a bad bridge. I did need to replace the bridge on my American Jazzmaster. But try the Loctite first if you're properly set up already.

No they don't, also they don't do international shipping so I had to buy a hardcase too and ask my grandparents to ship it.

aw snap! hmm mind if i ask where u got the hard case? i might just visit the shop personally and buy a hardcase too. im not sure if the airlines would allow guitars inside the plane... even tho i really would just want to hug that guitar all the way back home lol! i know they would just throw it around in the cargo which fears me alot in this trip im planning

I bought the hardcase from the same shop online but sadly when my grandparents sent it, there was no protection for the case itself, so the case has a crack.

I'm pretty sure if you buy a good hardcase and put some protection around the hardcase inside a box, it should mostly be fine, because mine was perfectly fine except that little crack haha

If you need help with any korean reading, shoot me a PM and I'll gladly help

ok now I'm facing a new problem where I accidentally slightly banged the back of the guitar to the arm of my chair while playing.
And now I can hear buzzing from the inside? But the buzzing noise doesn't go through the amp
But it's really loud and annoying

Buzzing from inside? what kind of buzzing is it? electrical or something mechanical inside? my guess is that the bridge height or adjustment may have gone off...

The buzz doesn't come out of amp, so I'm assuming its something to do with the bridge and the springs?
