The preview sounds awesome (especially at 00:20). And their choreography is cute.

Cherry Bomb is fantastic, can't wait for the album! Judging from the songs we know so far I might like it just slightly less than the self-titled.

The music video for Cherry Bomb is out on Gyao and I saw this link on Twitter for a somewhat low quality version of the video for those that want to check it out.

Yeah they are really at their best when at their most exuberant and peppy!

But now it's gone... so here's the semi-live version until we (hopefully) get an official YT link:

Random thought, but does else think it's funny that their album comes out the same day as Scandal's?

As someone who's currently trying to budget his album purchases, you're actually making this worse for me.

Update: The MV for Cherry Bomb is now available on the Dreamusic Youtube Channel . . .

Have they / Suu done an interview talking about creating music? After Hachigatsu no Yoru was released composed by Suu and in many people's ears one of their very best singles I thought maybe she'd take over, but here she's back to writing just lyrics.

Unfortunately, Dreamusic is still a company who's videos are now unavailable in the U.S. Sad If you guys can't view Dreamusic's video, I did upload the music video [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] before I left. Happy

I got back from Japan last night. I visited some Tower Records store with my friends and bought a few Saisai albums that I didn't have yet. I bought Saisai, Rabushiro, stella, Sweet Pop!, Besan (Ainyan's edition), and Bang!Bang!Bang (Suu's edition). I was hoping to find Yukako's edition for Besan but I couldn't find it haha. Tongue

I haven't seen an interview with Saisai about composing music since Hachigatsu was released. In a way, I think that Hachigatsu was an experiment for Suu. It's may be something that Suu or the others will start doing more often in time but that may take quite a lot of time.

It's important to remember that Saisai started out very similarly to SCANDAL. The girls didn't know how to play their instruments very well in the beginning. I think Yukako had the most skill but she was also added to the band last after Yana left - so she had to be at a skill level to match where the others were by that point. Tongue But Silent Siren is another band who didn't quite know what they were doing at first.

Much like SCANDAL, it's probably going to be a slow process for Saisai to get used to writing their own music. Happy SCANDAL did it little by little and they're about to release their second self produced album - hopefully without much outside help. I think that if Suu like writing for Hachigatsu, she'll probably try learning more about composition and give it another try in the future~ Happy

Really looking forward to that one. I will probably love is a little less than the previous one which is basically perfect, but it seems like they're still evolving.

My copy of S isn't here yet but I did get a chance to listen to it last night. Honestly... I wasn't feeling the album. When I tried to listen to it, none of the songs really spoke to me or got me interested them. It might have had something to do with SCANDAL also releasing a new album on the same day that distracted me a little.

So right now, I'm not really feeling the album as much as I did their previous albums. I'll give it a couple more listens though, of course, and see if I can warm up to the album over time. Happy

I had the opposite effect, I only liked two songs off Yellow. Outside of Love Me Do and SUKI SUKI, I have almost no motivation to listen to the other songs again after giving them a listen to confirm my suspicions. Thus I've decided to pass on purchasing that album. While based on the singles alone, I could already tell I was going to like S. Also based on the samples of the other songs on S, a good number of those other songs seem to click for me as well. Also considering this is a Scandal forum, it's weird but overall between the two albums I feel like Silent Siren's resonates with me so much more than Scandal's. Although I suspect the diverseness/experimentation of genre in Yellow vs a more straight forward pop rock sound in S might have had a lot to do with it.

The main difference for me is that Scandal's sound is changing because they are experimenting with new sounds, which may cause fans to be concerned about the loss of their 'trademark' sound (that never really existed in the first place anyway). On the other hand Silent Siren have a very distinctive and very bold style, which they are only slowly refining album after album, and S is like a natural progression. I don't see why anyone who liked their previous albums wouldn't like S, because it's once again a very strong album with a very distinct SaiSai approach, it's not a departure at all. (The only reason would be that the band is stagnating.)

I kinda share iamcrazymike's opinion. After listening to both Scandal and Silent Siren albums, I have to say that Silent Siren "S" is the album I listen the most between the two. My favourite songs are "Cherry Bomb" (that intro ! And when I listen to it, I remember the MV haha), "Milky Boy", "Yoshida-san", and "C.A.F.E".

I updated my "[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]" today and here's what I added about the album:

One of the main reasons why I've progressively fallen head over heels for Silent Siren is the fact that they always manage to defy all expectations. They are such a formulaic band that it's only normal one would expect them to dilute their energy and not be able to move forward, and yet the exact opposite has happened. Naoki's inspirational well seems to be bottomless as now proven by the quality of their fourth full-length in four years. Based on the three preceding singles I had already made my mind about it: S would never reach the absolute peak of their self-titled album, which was the epitome of everything I love about them, all concentrated in one amazing burst. But once again I was proven wrong. One again I'm forced to admit that there isn't a single average song on the album (quite the opposite actually) and to endlessly gush about how amazing they are. The 1-2 punch of "Cherry Bomb" and "Milk Boy" showcases the very best of SaiSai, and all the other new songs just add more subtle colors to the overall picture.

[...]

I also want to reiterate how solid their rhythm section has become. The combination of Ainyan's winding basslines and Hinanchu's steady drumming really adds a lot of drive to the music. Oh and of course there's also the fact that they are arguably the cutest rhythm section in the world right now :3

I wasn't too excited about Silent Siren when I first visited them, but after this last Scandal album, I feel the need to find THE outstanding J-girl-band album for this year.

After revisiting SaiSai, I remember why I didn't originally like them - the initial kawaii-shock. BUT, I can't help but be attracted to their musical talent (or them, but that's not the point. Or is it?) So, I'm willing to give them a shot. If I was to buy all their albums in one go (excluding most of the singles) it'd be pretty much $200 once shipping is added. In a way that might be overkill for now, so anyone have suggestions? Should I buy the new album and see how we go? My biggest concern is sugary-sweetness might be too much for me to take over a long period. With Akai Koen's new album just around the corner, I'm very tempted to get that...

As an aside… I was checking out the SaiSai albums on CDJapan… and I had to wonder if anyone can see the resemblance of Ainyan in the [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] cover to Kira from the movie the [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]. I just thought it was a cute coincidence worth sharing.

I think Silent Siren would be the best entry point. It's relatively light on sugar (as opposed to their earlier stuff, but it's all relative of course) and shows the band at their most energetic and powerful. Plus it's rather short.

The new album could work as well, it's a little longer with more songs and variety.

I can't even believe it.  .love.

I've suggest Silent Siren to the J-Pop Summit for the last two years but I never believed they'd actually invite the girls! I'm super happy to hear that they're coming to the U.S - and to San Francisco. *_* Definitely going to this year's Summit no doubt. >w<

If it works like previous years... Saisai will have the performance and an autograph session. They will probably also have a meet and greet for VIP ticket holders.
