@M_M yes, you can do what you want in your letters to show the support to them.
Search well in the post, there's an example here of a designed letter.

What do you mean by design? You dont HAVE to use the one provided in the OP, you can write it on a blank piece of paper and it would be okay as well.

Yeah. They need to be (carefully) opened anyways. From the first post:

2. As much as possible do not tightly seal your letter so that it can be verified easily. This is to prevent troll letters and letters with the intention to say bad stuffs to the girls.

Of course I'm not reading every letter through in depth, just a quick check that we aren't sending any troll letters with really inappropriate stuff. Scandal's staff almost certainly opens the letters too before they get to the girls to check that the contents are ok.

Blast, in my infinite stupidity, I think that I sealed mine, even though I read the rules...I must have been on letter-writing auto-pilot. 320x200, if you get mine, then please feel free to open it!

Try to have it arrive by Aug 1st as best you can. I know the shipping can be somewhat unpredictable.
